Stained Glass Overlay
By Jeff Levy
About a year ago I met Karen Kent, former executive with the printing giant RR Donnelley. Karen was the manager of a 6.7million business with profit and loss accountability and an average of sixty people in her organization.
Sound like a pretty solid appointment. What was missing for Karen were some essentials that were just not being met by working in a huge corporate environment. Her list of goals and needs included: independence and financial security, be in complete control of her own destiny, balance work and quality of life issues and continue to live on Vashon Island. I almost forgot to mention Karen has a Fine Arts degree and was anxious to develop an enterprise where her creativity and business savvy could blend.
Karen recently opened a Stained Glass Overlay franchise covering all of King County. Karen says, “With my 2400 Sq Ft. studio in the downtown corridor of Seattle, I can service all east and west side King County customers.” Karen is setting up satellite locations throughout the east side and will focus on some of the higher concentration of builders and home remodeling companies.
“SGO Designer Glass is a full service provider to the residential, commercial and manufacturing community and part of the largest network of decorative glass studios worldwide. Her products include stained glass overlay, stained and leaded glass door and window inserts, laminated glass, molded glass and other decorative glass products.”
With passion, Karen is developing her fine arts skills and her need to be in control of her own life. Stained Glass Overlay gives her the opportunity to pursue her dream as she has made the transition form Employee to Entrepreneur.
